Dennis Orcollo Won World 8 Ball Pool Championship





Dennis Orcollo won World 8 Ball Pool Championship at the Fujairah Exhibition Center in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates.

Dennis Orcollo, from Bislig, Surigao in island of Mindanao, who captured one of three gold medals for the Philippines in the last Asian Games, rise from the qualifying rounds by defeating Dutch ace Neils Feijen, 10-3, to seize the World 8-Ball Pool Championship.


With this victory, Dennis Orcollo (Orcullo) joined the other Filipino world champions that includes Efren “Bata” Reyes, Francisco “Django” Bustamante, Ronnie Alcano, Alex Pagulayan and Rubilen Amit.

Orcollo said, “It’s a great feeling to finally win a world title,” who bags successes in several big-money events. He has won some of the biggest tournaments in the world, including the World Pool League, World Pool Masters, Derby City Classic, US Bar Table, Billiards Congress of America.

Orcollo, was defeated by Efren “the Magician” Reyes in the first round but came back steadily into contention before reaching the final by downing David “El Matador” Alcaide of Spain, 9-3. Then defeated Feijen for the fame and glory.

The $40,000 winner’s prize was one of the biggest for Orcollo, who also collected the same prize money for capturing the Qatar Open 9-ball tournament two years ago, also at the expense of Feijen.

With precise pocketing, Orcollo zoomed to a 5-0 lead before Feijen managed to win three racks. But the Filipino took the next five games, capping the victory with a break and runout in the 13th rack. Filipino billiard fans are happy for Dennis Orcollo.


Dennis Orcollo long deserves this World 8 Ball Pool Championship.. He is one of the great Filipino pool players the country has produced.
